3 Chelsea players to miss Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Chelsea will be without Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell for the season opener against Brighton and Hove. Thiago Silva has just arrived in London but is highly unlikely to feature in the Premier League opener on Monday.

The Chelsea boss was talking to the media in his pre-match press conference when he confirmed the injury news. The only other player out for the season opener is Billy Gilmour, who has a knee injury.

Ziyech suffered a knee injury in the pre-season friendly against Brighton. Chilwell is still recovering from his heel injury but is back in training.

Adding to this, Mateo Kovacic is suspended for the season opener after he was sent off against Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

There was some positive news for The Blues as well with Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta returning from their injuries. Both players suggest hamstring injuries in the FA Cup final against Arsenal last month.

Frank Lampard has confirmed that they are in training but will be managed back into the starting XI. Both players are expected to be in the match day squad on Monday.
