Enzo Maresca delivers Chelsea team news ahead of Lincoln City: 5 players ruled out
Enzo Maresca has ruled out five players from Chelsea’s Carabao Cup clash against Lincoln City on Wednesday, September 23.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has cast doubt on midfielder Moises Caicedo and forward Joao Pedro after their loss to Manchester United. He hints that the duo are dealing with knocks after running up and down the pitch in the 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.
Cole Palmer is being assessed on a day-to-day basis after coming off injured in the Manchester United game. He has been dealing with a groin issue and is set to sit out of the Carabao Cup.
Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are in training, but will not be making the team for the Lincoln City game. Maresca has ruled out both players and said:
“They are not back for this game, unfortunately. They both took part in the session yesterday. That is good news. Hopefully, they can be available very soon, but they are not available for tomorrow. Again, Cole is the one.
“Then we have some players with small problems from already a long time, like Moi [Caicedo], like Joao [Pedro], that they are trying to manage a little bit themselves. But then the rest, they are okay.”
Chelsea are without a win in their last three matches in all competitions, following a draw against Brentford and losses to Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
