Chelsea vs LAFC – Player Ratings and Match Report

Chelsea vs LAFC kicked off Premier League’s representation in the FIFA Club World Cup, and Enzo Maresca’s side did not disappoint. Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez scored in either half to seal a comfortable 2-0 win.

Chelsea went into the game with their experienced starting XI with no debutants. Noni Madueke had multiple chances to score early in the match but could not get the ball under control.

The missed opportunities have come to haunt the Blues in the Premier League season, but that was not the case at the FIFA Club World Cup. Nicolas Jackson had a shot on target despite being off balance, but Hugo Lloris made a comfortable save.

Jackson turned provider late in the first half, and Pedro Neto did well to leave a LAFc defender on the floor before cutting in and smashing the ball into the near post to make it 1-0.

Bouanga and Morales had chances to put LAFC level, but both failed to convert. While the teenager saw his shot go well wide, the #99 had his effort saved by Robert Sanchez.

Liam Delap came on for his Chelsea debut today and, just like Jackson, got an assist instead of getting on the scoresheet. He put in a brilliant ball for Enzo Fernandez to slot in from a couple of yards out.
