Chelsea‘s forgotten man, Danny Drinkwater finally has a club interested in signing him. According to reports in CalcioMercato, Claudio Ranieri has asked AS Roma to sign the midfielder in the summer.

The Englishman has been banished to the reserves by Maurizio Sarri this season. He has never made it to the match-day squad, even for the Carabao Cup.

The 29-year-old still has a long time on his contract at Chelsea but will be looking to leave the club in the summer. He was free to leave in January as well but no club was interested in signing him, not even on loan.

Ranieri knows Drinkwater well as the two had worked together at Leicester City. The Roma-caretaker manager has recommended him to the board and the reports suggest that the Serie A side will look to sign him in the summer.

Rumour Ratings: 4/10

CalcioMercato aren’t very reliable and the move looks like an odd one. While Roma might be in need of a backup midfielder, it is unlikely that they would go for a player like Drinkwater.

Moreover, he would be very costly for a backup player and the Serie A side will look to invest elsewhere. Unless Ranieri gets the full time role at Roma, this move will definitely not happen.
