Chelsea lead race for £46M rated La Liga star

Samuel Umtiti has been subject of intense transfer rumours since his decline in form. The World Cup winner hasn’t been at his best recently and Barcelona want to sell him to bring in new talent.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with Premier League clubs and now Daily Mirror reports that he would prefer to join Chelsea rather than the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal who have been linked with him.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be very interested in singing the former Lyon defender. The Gunners tried to sign him last summer but they were unsucessful, while the Blues would have approached for in the summer if not for the ban.

Umititi would have welcomed the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge and his representatives would have discussed a move for him. Now Frank Lampard’s side have been in touch with his agent Arturo Canales to bring him to London in the next transfer window.

The Barca defender would prefer to stay in La Liga with the Catalan giants but he would not mind signing for a Champions League side. Barcelona have set a price tag of £46million for Umtiti.
