Manchester United board has decided to let go of Jose Mourinho at the end of the current season if reports the United Kingdom are to be believed. The Sun claims that the Red Devils are plotting a £40 million move for his replacement, Mauricio Pochettino.

The Tottenham boss is the only manager they are looking at and want to land him at any cost as per the report. However, other reports suggest that Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte and Leonardo Jardim are also in the running.

The Sun claim that a clause in Mourinho’s contract will make it easier for United to sack him at the end of the season. The compensation they pay him will be less if he fails to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are doing all they can to keep Pochettino at the club. Spurs have not won a trophy under him but they have been playing better than ever in the Premier League history.

United aren’t the only club interested in the former Southampton manager and will face stiff competition from Real Madrid. The Spanish side reportedly made a move for him last summer as well but he stayed put as they were not going to spend anything in the transfer market.

Rumour Ratings: 6/10

Jose Mourinho’s time at United is indeed coming to an end but it will be difficult for them to lure Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine is building a team for the future at Tottenham and is highly likely stay at the club unless they ask him to leave.
