Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro and could complete the move, estimated to be around Â£53 million, by the end of the coming week.

Duncan Castles, a reputed journalist, was quoted as saying on the Transfer Podcast,  “This summer United have decided to go for Alex Sandro. They have put a deal in place with the player, the player wants to (join) and Juventus are holding out for up to 60million euros (£53m). They (Juventus) have seen the market and are thinking they can cash in big time.”

Sandro is set to receive around 5 million euros a season if the move goes through.

Manchester United have had a crisis of sorts at the left back position with Luke Shaw struggling for form and fitness and Ashley Young not inspiring the most confidence after being shoehorned into the position.

Sandro is one of the best in his position and would fit in perfectly at United.  The Brazilian was an integral part of the Juventus side that won the domestic double last season but was surprisingly omitted from Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Jose Mourinho is keen on signing adding defensive depth, something his side lacked last season and has already completed the signing of Diogo Dalot.

The Red Devils were also linked with Milan Skriniar earlier in the week but negotiations came to a standstill following Inter’s unwillingness to sell.

Chelsea were keen on signing him last summer but he rejected the move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues ended their interest in him in January and signed Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma.
