Manchester United have stunning €80 million bid rejected

Manchester United have had a stunning bid rejected by Ajax for Antony. The Red Devils reportedly offered €80 million for the Brazilian, but the Eredivisie side were unwilling to sell.

As per David Ornstein and Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, Manchester United made a bid for the winger on Wednesday. Erik ten Hag was keen on signing the 22-year-old and was on their radar earlier this summer too.

The report claims the bid was €80 million (~£68 million), but Ajax rejected it. The Eredivisie side are keen on keeping hold of the Brazilian, who has notched 8 goals in 57 appearances since joining from Sao Paulo in 2020.

The Atheltic report adds that it is unclear if Manchester United would be returning with another offer for the winger. They claim that PSV forward, Cody Gakpo, is seen as the alternative and a move could be on the cards before the end of the window.

Gakpo penned a new deal earlier this year until 2026, but PSV have an agreement to let him leave in case of a suitable offer.
