MANCHESTER CITY CLOSE IN ON JORGINHO

Napoli midfielder Jorginho is inching ever closer to completing a move to Premier League champions Manchester City, according to the player’s agent, Joao Santos. The deal is estimated to be in the region of £43million.

According to Santos, Jorginho is back in Brazil waiting for permission to fly down to England to complete the move, while Santos himself is in England awaiting confirmation from Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he can indeed talk to the club regarding the transfer.

“Manchester City are working to close the deal with Napoli — any moment could be the right one. The player is in Brazil. I’m in my house in England, waiting for a call from Giuntoli or De Laurentiis. When it arrives, I will go to meet the leadership of Manchester City,” claimed Santos.

Jorginho, meanwhile, is expected to sign a five-year contract. However, City have backups ready should this deal fall through.

Real Madrid‘s Mateo Kovacic and Southampton’s Mario Lemina are said to be Pep Guardiola’s backup options.
