Manchester City release statement regarding racist gestures by their fan

Man City racist fan: Manchester City have released a statement after their fan was caught doing racist gestures during the Manchester Derby. The Premier League champions have vowed to help the police in identifying the individual and assisting them in their enquiries.

The statement read:

Manchester City FC are aware of a video circulating on social media which appears to show a supporter making racial gestures during the second half of the match against Manchester United this evening.

Officials from the Club are working with Greater Manchester Police in order to help them identify any individuals concerned and assist with their enquiries.

The Club are also working with GMP regarding an instance of objects being thrown onto the field of play.

The Club operates a zero tolerance policy regarding discrimination of any kind, and anyone found guilty of racial abuse will be banned from the club for life.

Manchester City lost the derby 2-1 despite their late fightback thanks to Nicolas Otamendi’s goal. The Cityzens are now 14 points behind Liverpool, who eased past Bournemouth.

They are now 3rd in the table – 3 points ahead of Chelsea in the 4th place. Leicester City are 2nd in the table right now and have a chance of going 6 points clear of City with a win at Aston Villa tomorrow.
