Real Madrid and Barcelona to battle for Liverpool duo

Liverpool Rumours: Real Madrid and Barcelona have set signs on getting Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool according to AS. The Spanish publication reports that both Spanish giants are keen on the duo who have been impressive at Anfield.

Klopp was snapped up by Liverpool after they sacked Brendan Rodgers in 2015. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has won them a UEFA Champions League title and has made them title contenders once again.

Virgil van Dijk was signed by the Reds in January 2018 after a lot of drama in the summer of 2017. Liverpool were accused by Southampton of approaching the player without permission and they had to issue a public apology for the same.

However, 6 months later, the Anfield side were back in for the Dutchman and got him for a then world-record fee for a defender – £75 million. He has been a rock at the back for them and helped them solve their biggest issue – leaking goals.

It is no surprise that Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking at the duo as the Spanish giants always try to get the best ones at their club. Zinedine Zidane and Ernesto Valverde have not been impressive this season and Klopp could well and truly be on their wishlist.

While Van Dijk is already 28, he has just hit his peak. The interest in him could be there because Barcelona need a good replacement for Gerard Pique while Real Madrid need one for Sergio Ramos.
