Adrian doubtful for Liverpool’s trip to Southampton

Liverpool might be without Adrian for their trip to Southampton on Saturday. Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the goalkeeper has a swollen ankle after getting injured by a fan, who ran onto the pitch and accidentally kicked him.

Adrian is Liverpool’s second choice keeper and was called into action on the first day of the season following an injury to Alisson Becker. The Spaniard then started in the UEFA Super Cup finals against Chelsea on Wednesday and helped them win the trophy by saving the final penalty.

However, it looks like he has picked up an injury as well and could miss the trip to Southampton. The Reds will have to turn to former Preston North End keeper, Andy Lonergan who has joined them on a short-term deal.

Alisson is set to be out for a few weeks at least and an injury to Adrian now has left Klopp stranded. However, Sadio Mane is back to full fitness and there are no other injury issues for Liverpool right now.

Reds won their first match of the season 4-1 against Norwich City while Southampton lost 3-0 at Burnley.
