Liverpool 2-2 Chelsea: Player Ratings from the UEFA Super Cup

Chelsea suffered yet another heartbreak in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. The Blues lost 5-4 on penalties to Liverpool after the game finished 2-2 in Extra Time.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 36th minute after a beautiful assist by Christian Pulisic. The Frenchman slotted the ball home after he was left unmarked in the box. The American winger also found the back of the net within minutes but it was ruled out for offside.

Chelsea went into the break 1-0 up but a half-time substitution by Jurgen Klopp in the form for Roberto Firminno changed things. Sadio Mane found the back of the net in the 48th minute to make it 1-1.

Mason Mount’s introduction sparked new like into Chelsea and he found the back of the net as well. But, just Pulisic, his goal too was ruled out for offside.

With the scores level after 90 minutes, Extra Time was called for. Mane found the back of the net early against and Liverpool were 2-1 up in the 95th minute. However, Chelsea were level within 6 minutes after Adrian brought Abraham down and Jorginho scored from the spot.
