Leeds United vs Everton – Player Ratings and Highlights

Leeds United vs Everton Match Ratings: 1.5/5

Leeds United have managed to beat Everton and grab all three points on their return to the Premier League. They needed a late, controversial penalty to get the win, with referee Chris Kavanagh taking the spotlight.

Everton were sub-par in the first half, with Leeds United dominating the game. However, they were unable to do much in the final third and could not get the ball past Jordan Pickford.

With minutes left on the clock, James Tarkowski was judged to have blocked a shot on target with his arm, and the referee gave a penalty to the home side after talking to the linesman through his mic.

Although replays showed that the arm was in a natural position and the Everton player was doing his best to move it behind his back, VAR upheld the on-field decision. Lukas Nmecha stepped up and slotted it past Pickford, who jumped the right way and almost got to the ball.
