Kylian Mbappe ‘pre-selected’ for Olympics 2020 by France

PSG News: Kylian Mbappe has been pre-selected for Olympics by French Football Federation (FFF) according to the president, Noel Le Graet. He was talking to the reporters when he revealed that the PSG was on the list of players being considered to represent the country at the Olympics this year.

Football the Tokyo Olympics this year will kick off on July 23rd and end on August 8th โ€“ just days before Ligue 1 kicks off. If selected, Mbappe is very likely to miss the whole of PSG’s pre-season tour.

Mbappe is just 21 years old and thus eligible to take part in the Olympics. Football at the Olympics is an Under 23 competition and Brazil are the defending champions right now.

“Mbappe is on a pre-list of 80 players for the Olympic Games, produced by Sylvain Ripoll. That list will then become 50, before becoming 18 + four reserves,” Le Graet told reporters.

“He has the age to be able to go [U23]. Like all the young players of his age who are talented, he is therefore on the listโ€ฆ I met with [PSG president] Nasser [Al-Khelaifi]. I asked him how Mbappe was going. He said to me: ‘Very good’. That’s where we are.

“In general, club presidents feel that the dates [of the Olympic Games] are not particularly good. It is like that,+” he added.
