Karim Benzema mocks Olivier Giroud

Karim Benzema recently sparked a lot of controversies while talking about French International, Olivier Giroud. The Real Madrid star was live on Instagram when he was asked to comment on the comparison drawn between him and Giroud. 

Talking about the Chelsea forward, Benzema said, “don’t confuse Formula One with go-karting”. His comments took the Internet by storm and fans of both players jumped to the defence of their respective heroes. 

Following the reaction of the football fraternity, Benzema went on to clarify his comments but decided to draw an interesting analogy to justify his previous statement. 

The 32-year-old La Liga player stated that his comparison was correct but the people focused only on the terms he used and didn’t pay heed to the appreciation he showed towards his compatriot in the latter half of the video. 

Benzema was quoted saying, “Some people only took away things about Giroud and Formula 1 [from the live broadcast], but they didn’t remark what I said about what he’d brought to the French national team.”

He further went on to add, “They only focused on that, on what I said about Formula 1 and karting, but it’s what I think and it’s the truth.

“Look, if I was asked about R9 (Ronaldo Nazario), then he would be the Formula 1 and I would be the kart. Short and simple”, concluded the Frenchman.
