Joël Matip is set to miss the remainder of the season with a thigh injury. He suffered a ruptured thigh muscle in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

He played for the full 90 minutes but was taken for scans after the game. The Times report that the centre-back is now in Germany to check if he needs an operation.

Matip will be the 3rd player out of Liverpool’s clash vs Manchester City tomorrow. Joe Gomez is out with an ankle ligament damage while Adam Lallana is also reportedly out for the season after he pulled his hamstring vs Palace.

Jurgen Klopp will not have to play Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk in all the important games and try and fit Emre Can in the defence when needed.
