Jamie Carragher blasts Manchester United defender

Jamie Carragher did not hold back while criticising the Manchester United players after their defeat to Tottenham. The Liverpool legend ripped into Victor Lindelof especially while analysing the game.

The Swedish defender came on for Phil Jones in the 58th minute after the Englishman went off with an injury. The score was already 2-0 by then but Carragher believes that Lindelof could have done better and stopped Spurs’ 3rd goal.

Lindelof also made a dubious error 5 minutes after coming on. His back pass to De Gea was slow & it intercepted by Dele Alli who almost made it 3-0.

He [Lindelof] should not be playing at this level.

The former English defender said that United still are an incomplete team and need to get better players. He believes that the Old Trafford side have to spend another £200 million before they can challenge for the title.

“What has happened at Man Utd in terms of buying two £30m+ centre-backs? I mean Victor Lindelof, I can’t criticise Lindelof because it gets to the stage where I just think he is out of his depth, I actually feel a little bit sorry for him, he should not be playing at this level,” said Carragher.

United are currently 13th with just three points from 3 games. They face Burnley this coming weekend but after the International break, they head to high-flying Watford then host the newcomers, Wolverhampton.

Some reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is set to be sacked, so we have compiled a list of three possible replacements for him at Old Trafford. [READ HERE]
