Manchester United drop interest in young English star

Manchester United’s interest in Jack Grealish has reportedly taken a serious hit after the Aston Villa star recently made headlines for the wrong reasons. The 24-year-old was involved in a car accident and the onlookers snapped a picture of him in which the Englishman is seen wearing a blue hoodie and white shorts.

After being snapped in Birmingham only a few hours following his message about ‘staying at home’, Jack Grealish seems to have invited a lot of negative attention. It is also being believed that he could be in trouble for violating the lockdown that has been put into effect to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The latest rumours in the Daily Star suggests that the recent turn of events could cost the Villa fielder an opportunity to play for his favourite Premier League club. The article suggests that Manchester United will now seek an alternative and they now have their eyes on Leicester City midfielder, James Maddison.

The 23-year-old English player has managed to gain a lot of attention from the football fraternity owing to his performance for Leicester City in this season. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that Jack Grealish would be the ideal fit for the United squad alongside Bruno Fernandes, the club are now also showing interest in Maddison who accounted for 6 goals and 3 assists in the 28 appearances he made for his team this season.

As far as Grealish is concerned, he has been a life-long fan of Manchester United but his dream move is under jeopardy as he could be a part of the police investigation.

The West Midlands Police issued a statement after the accident and said, “We were called just before 10 am to reports that a Range Rover had crashed into two parked cars in the street. The driver left his details with a member of the public at the scene before leaving on foot. He will be spoken to by police in due course. Minor damage was caused to the parked vehicles. Officers are investigating the circumstances and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch.”

Jack Grealish has 7 goals and 7 assists to his name in the 2019/20 season which helped him in becoming one of the top targets for Manchester United. However, his involvement in the car accident could land him in more trouble than he could have imagined. Although Grealish issued an apology following the incident, it will be interesting to see how it will affect United’s approach to the overall situation.
