Remember Lucas Piazon? Take your time…

Yes, the Brazilian youngster who was once tipped to be the next Kaka based on his looks is back in the Chelsea squad. The 24-year-old was a surprising name on the final Premier League squad list submitted by the Blues.

Piazon was signed by Chelsea in 2011 but he has made just 1 appearance in the Premier League for them. He came on as a substitute in the 8-0 win over Aston Villa in December 2012.ย  He had assisted a goal and missed a penalty in that game.

Since then, Piazon has been on the road, heading to one club after the other on loan. He moved to Malaga in January 2013 before heading to Chelsea’s partner club, Vitesse for the 2013/14 season.

Eintracht Frankfurt was the next destination for the Brazilian and he played several games for the German side during the 2014/15 season. He has spent the last three seasons in the Championship with Reading and Fulham.

Piazon was a vital player for Fulham in their quest for promotion and he managed to get them back in the Premier League. However, despite several rumours, the midfielder did not join the Cottagers again and is now a part of Chelsea’s Premier League squad.

However, the 24-year-old was not picked in their Europa League squad. Danny Drinkwater and Rob Green were also left out of their group stage side.
