Gary Neville and Patrice Evra slam Manchester United’s decision

Patrice Evra and Gary Neville have slammed Manchester United‘s decision to sign Donny van de Beek. The Ajax star was signed by the Red Devils this summer for a reported fee of £40 million.

Evra claims that the signing of Van de Beek was not needed at all. He was talking on Sky Sports when he said:

“We’re talking about Van de Beek, nothing against the kid, but why have we bought him? He’s watching the game from the stand every game. We don’t need him, that’s the truth.”

Gary Neville also added to the argument and said the transfer was ‘a little bit of a mystery’ to him. The former right-back believes that the Dutchman is not a part of the manager’s plans. He said:

“What is a little bit of a mystery is the use of Van de Beek since he’s been signed for £40 million. He doesn’t seem to be at the forefront of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans in every game. It’s a bit of a mystery that one. And the more he doesn’t start, and the more he doesn’t come on, the more you’re thinking, ‘Well £40m player, ordinarily, you’d get him in the team’. He must be thinking: ‘What am I doing here?’ at this moment in time.”

Solskjaer, however, has made it clear that Donny van de Beek’s time will come and he will get his matches.
