Chelsea lodge appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport

The Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) have confirmed that Chelsea have appealed against the transfer ban handed to them by FIFA. The governing body of football found the Premier League side guilty of signing foreign U18 players and handed them a 2-window transfer ban plus a £460,000 fine.

The Blues were banned from signing players this summer and in the 2020 winter transfer window. But with the appeal to CAS, the ban is likely to be frozen until a decision is made.

Chelsea’s appeal states that the club has done nothing wrong and even appealed to FIFA immediately after they were handed the ban. FIFA, however, rejected the appeal and upheld their decision to ban the Blues from signing players for 2 windows. However, they removed the ban on signing U16 players.

Our sources at Chelsea have already confirmed that Maurizio Sarri is off to Juventus while Real Madrid have a deal in place for Eden Hazard. With a new manager coming in and their best player leaving, the Blues have decided to appeal against the ban but are yet to decide if they want the ban frozen for this summer.

Frank Lampard is currently the front runner to replace Sarri while there are talks of letting him manage Derby County for another season before handing him the Chelsea job. The Europa League winners are also looking at Max Allegri and Erik ten Hag according to reports.
