AFC Bournemouth star Marco Senesi is keen on joining Chelsea amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester United, sources have told The Sportzine.
Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Senesi on a free transfer this summer, but the FIFA Club World Cup champions remain undecided. The defender wants to make the switch to Stamford Bridge and is keen on remaining in the Premier League.
The Bournemouth star will be running down his contract with the Cherries this season, despite their best efforts to extend his deal. The Argentine was also offered the chance to renew with a release clause, but it was swiftly rejected.
Tottenham and Manchester United remain interested in signing the defender, and will be the likely destination if the Blues do not show interest. Juventus were also interested in the center-back, but he has prioritized Premier League clubs.
The Red Devils believe they are leading the chase for the 28-year-old this summer. However, sources close to the player suggest he prefers a move to London, with Chelsea preferred over Tottenham.
The Blues were interested in Senesi in the January window but opted against making the move following Enzo Maresca’s exit. The Italian was the key figure pushing for the deal, but the arrival of Liam Rosenior led to a shift toward bringing back Mamadou Sarr after the Englishman’s glowing review.
Any move by the UEFA Conference League winners for Senesi would depend on Tosin Adarabioyo’s exit. Benoit Badiashile is also expected to leave, but signing a replacement for the Frenchman is not in the club’s plans.
Axel Disasi is another defender who is set to leave, with West Ham United leading the chase. Aston Villa are interested once again, while Fulham are also keeping tabs.
