Chelsea star set to sign new contract ‘in coming weeks’
Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante is set to sign a new contract according to L’Equipe. The French publication claims that the talks between the player and the club have been going on positively for some time.
The midfielder is set to put pen to the paper in the coming weeks according to the same report.
The 2-time Premier League winner currently earns £120,000 per week and L’Equipe claim that Chelsea are set to make him one of the best paid players in the league. Some reports suggests that the new contract was to earn him £250,000 per week – just over 100% increase on his previous contract.
Kante has been playing as a box-to-box midfielder under Maurizio Sarri and is just adjusting to his new role. The Frenchman is not very comfortable going forward but has been doing his best to support the attackers too.
L’Equipe also reported that Kante rejected two offers from PSG as he wants to remain in the Premier League. They claim that the Ligue 1 champions made a move for him in 2016 and also earlier this year but were rebuffed by the midfielder.
The Chelsea midfielder was in the news yesterday as well for a completely different reason. He reportedly rejected off-shore payments from Chelsea and Football Leaks claim that he refused to be paid under the table.
