Chelsea star confirms he is set to sign a new contract

Marcos Alonso has revealed that he is very close to sign a new contract at Chelsea. The Spanish left-back has been the first choice left-back for the Blue ever since he joined from Fiorentina in 2016.

Alonso was talking to AS when he revealed the news about his contract. The Spaniard was about the interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona when he shut the door for a potential move to back to his country.

Alonso said: “What I can say is that I am very calm and very happy at Chelsea and that the club must also be with me because, although I still have two years left on the contract, it has offered me an extension.”

“We are talking about it and the talks to renew are already advanced. If everything goes well, I think I will renew before the end of this month. In the coming days,” added Alonso.

Chelsea have have been questioning his defensive performances but the fact remains that he has scored so many crucial goals for them. And as for Emerson Palmieri, it looks like he will have to play second fiddle to Alonso for some more time.
