Chelsea star agrees personal terms as club launch €35 million bid – Reports
Atletico Madrid have reportedly submitted a new offer for Renato Veiga after agreeing terms with Chelsea star.
Atletico Madrid are looking to beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Veiga this summer and have submitted their second offer. The Spanish side had a bid of around €30 million rejected by Chelsea, who are demanding €40 million.
The Blues paid €12 million, rising to €15 million, for the Portuguese star last summer and are open to selling him. They have now received a €35 million bid from Atletico Madrid, who have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, per L’Equipe.
Veiga joined Chelsea as a cover for Marc Cucurella, while also being an option for the midfield. However, he is now interested in playing as a center back and pushed for a loan to Juventus in January after advice from national team manager, Roberto Martinez.
Enzo Maresca does not see the former Basel star as a center-back option and has approved his transfer. The Italian is not interested in keeping players who are unhappy with their roles, and made a similar call when Noni Madueke pushed for the move to Arsenal earlier this month.
Bayern Munich remain keen on Veiga, but have not made a bid yet. Chelsea are yet to respond to Atletico Madrid’s latst offer, but are likely to push back and stick to their €40 million asking price.
