Chelsea agree deal to sell Olivier Giroud

Chelsea rumours: Tottenham have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Olivier Giroud according to Sky Sports. The Frenchman was looking to leave Stamford Bridge as he was the 3rd choice striker under Frank Lampard.

Giroud is reportedly open to a move to Tottenham and is looking to move today. Jose Mourinho is keen on signing a striker with Harry Kane out injured for the season.

Lazio, Inter Milan, Newcastle United and several Ligue 1 clubs were keen on signing Giroud but Chelsea were reluctant to sell him. They are looking to sign a replacement and unless there is someone coming in, they are not willing to let him go.

Frank Lampard’s side are chasing Dries Mertens whose contract is expiring at Napoli. The rumours suggest that he is not open to the move and is looking to sign a new deal at the Serie A side or move to Inter Milan in the summer.

Giroud moved to Chelsea from Arsenal in 2018 and has won the Europa League with them. The Blues extended his deal by a season in the summer after they were banned from signing a player in the previous window.
