Chelsea confirm €44 million deal with Ajax for Hakim Ziyech
Chelsea news: Hakim Ziyech’s transfer to Chelsea from Ajax has been confirmed by both clubs. The Dutch side have revealed that €40 million will be paid upfront by the Europa League champions with another €4 million in variables.
The 26-year-old will be joining in the summer subject to agreeing personal terms and a medical. He officially becomes Frank Lampard’s first signing at the club.
Ziyech joined Ajax in 2016 from FC Twente and has been their best player ever since. Erick Ten Hag heaped praise on him and claimed that he was surprised that the Moroccan international stayed for so long.
“Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen. And I actually already expected this one or two years earlier. And each time it was: ‘Wow, he stayed again’. We are just happy that we will still have him until the end of the season,” the manager told Fox Sports.
Ziyech has scored 48 goals and provided 82 assists for Ajax in his 159 games for the club.
