Chelsea have Alejandro Garnacho agreement as Tottenham plot Xavi Simons hijack

Chelsea are set to seal the deal for Alejandro Garnacho as Tottenham plot late move for Xavi Simons, sources have told The Sportzine.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been in talks over Garnacho and have now inched closer to agreeing a deal. The Red Devils were holding out for over ยฃ50 million, while the Blues wanted to pay half of it.

However, the two clubs are now close to sealing a ยฃ40 million deal, with ยฃ5 million of it in add-ons. The Argentine is set for a seven-year deal, for which personal terms have already been in place since the club got permission to talk to the winger.

Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Al-Nassr were interested in signing Garnacho, but were outright rejected by the winger. He has had his mind set on the move to Stamford Bridge since being out of favor under Ruben Amorim in December 2024.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, who were also keeping tabs on Garnacho, are now making moves to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. They missed out on Eberechi Eze after the Englishman made a last-minute call to Arsenal and joined the Gunners, the club that released him at the age of 13.

Chelsea have a deal in place for RB Leipzig and would have completed the signing of Xavi Simons by now if it was not for the UEFA punishment. The need to get Christopher Nkunku off the books before signing a replacement.

The Frenchman has been in talks with Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, but both Bundesliga clubs have refused to match the ยฃ40 million asking price, which has been reduced from the initial ยฃ55 million quoted to Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United when they expressed interest at the start of the summer window.

Chelsea have held talks with Barcelona for Fermin Lopez as an alternative to Simons, if the Dutchman opts to move elsewhere. The Blues are willing to pay โ‚ฌ50 million, while the Catalan side want โ‚ฌ70 million for the 22-year-old.
