Nicolas Jackson makes bold comment on future as Chelsea add two players as competition for starting XI spot
Nicolas Jackson has vowed to stay at Chelsea despite the addition of Joรฃo Pedro and Liam Delap.
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is not looking to run away from competition for his starting spot at Stamford Bridge. The Senegal star added that he does not see the two new signings as rivals for his place, but rather as players who will help the club win.
Speaking to DSports, Jackson said that he does not lack confidence and his season was normal. He is not interested in the transfer rumors linking him with a move away and said:
“That’s football. There are ups and downs. But I didn’t lack confidence. I was focused on what I needed to improve. The most important thing is to get up at the right time, without spreading yourself too thin. I’m a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there is a change, you will know about it. For the moment, I’m focused on my preparation.”
When quizzed about the addition of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap to the squad, Jackson dismissed suggestions that they were his competition. He wants to see the move as a way for Chelsea to improve on the pitch, and added:
“Competition? I have no competitor. We are all here to help the club. Everyone has a role to play. I’m on a mission. It’s up to the coach to make his choices. I only focus on my work.”
Manchester United were linked with a move for Jackson, but they are focused on Benjamin Sesko right now after finding the Chelsea star ‘too expensive’ for their budget. Newcastle United remain interested and could make a move if they lose Sesko to the Red Devils, but that depends on the potential exit of Liverpool target Alexander Isak.
