Chelsea confident of signing £30M rated striker in January

Chelsea are confident of sealing a deal for Callum Wilson according to a report in the Daily Express. The Blues are set to make a bid of £30 million for the Bournemouth striker as per the report.

Maurizio Sarri has tried out Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in all the matches this season but they have not delivered with the goals when needed. The manager is now reportedly keen on signing a new striker and the club has set sights on the 26-year-old English striker at Bournemouth.

Wilson has been in fine form this season and has notched 8 goals in 15 apps already for the Cherries. Adding to his goals, he has also registered 5 assists and Sarri reportedly believes that he could be the ideal signing for Chelsea.

However, Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe believes that his side can hold on to the player despite the interest from Chelsea. “Yes, we are (confident),” the Cherries boss replied when asked if he believed they could keep hold of Wilson.

“At this stage, we are just focusing on the matches, we have got so many games to come around the Christmas period, I am sure Callum is the same, he is focusing on his football. We are certainly not anticipating losing players in January that we don’t want to” added Howe.

Chelsea’s interest in Wilson is real several reliable sources have also reported this recently. Moreover, £30 million seems like an ideal bid for the English man.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can pull off the deal as Bournemouth are determined to keep hold of their best players. The Cherries had a great start to the season but have now lost 5 of their last 6 games. Despite that, they sit 8th in the table – just 3 points behind 6th placed Manchester United.
