Borussia Dortmund confirm €34M deal with PSG

Borussia Dortmund‘s sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed that Abdou Diallo is set to join PSG. The Ligue 1 side have agreed a €32 million deal for the defender with another €2 million as add-ons.

“Abdou has decided he would like to take on another challenge, and it, the deal works for us financially. Therefore, we have agreed to the transfer,” sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed to Dortmund-based outlet, Ruhr Nachrichten.

The 23-year-old centre-back, who can also play as a left-back, was signed from Mainz just last summer. BVB paid €28 million to sign him from the German side and are set to make a €4 million+ profit on his within a year.

Reports suggest that the defender was looking for a move away after the arrival of Mats Hummels. Ther German defender re-signed with BVB from Bayern Munich earlier this summer for a reported fee of €38 million.

PSG currently have Thiago Silva, Presnel Kimpembe, Thilo Kehrer and Marquinhos as their centre-back options but were still keen on signing Matthijs De Ligt from Ajax. With the Dutchman set for a move to Juventus, they have turned their attention to Diallo and have secured the deal as well.

Thomas Tuchel and Abdou Diallo have been a part of Mainz and BVB but never at the same time. While a few reports suggest that the manager is keen on a reunion with the defender, the fact remains that they have never worked together.

PSG will now have 5 centre-backs in their squad and with Tuchel playing 3 at the back, he would be able to give everyone ample game time.
