Barcelona ‘in talks’ to sign former Chelsea winger

Barcelona rumours: Sassuolo and Barcelona are in talks for the transfer of Jeremie Boga, as per Di Marzio. The Italian journalist reports that the Catalan side are keen on signing the 21-year-old winger after an impressive start at the Serie A club.

Giovani Carvnevali, CEO of Sassuolo, has reportedly met with the Barcelona directors in Milan today. Di Marzio adds that the two clubs are in good terms and have a partnership deal in place over the youth players.

Boga was sold by Chelsea in the summer of 2018 for around £4 million. However, they did inset a buy-back clause and could activate it if Frank Lampard and co see him as a part of their plans.

The youngster made his debut under Antonio Conte on the first day of the 2017/18 season but it lasted just 14 minutes. He was subbed off by the manager after Gary Cahill got sent off and was then loaned out to Birmingham City.

The winger has no regrets over leaving the club and is open to a return to Stamford Bridge. Talking to Foot Mercato, he said: “It is true that it is a shame. Aside from that, I have no regrets. Each thing comes in its own time. It was certainly not the time for me to play for Chelsea. I always keep that in the corner of my head. If I continue to do what I am doing, work hard, maybe I will be back one day.”
