Barcelona eye Manchester United defender

Barcelona are keen on signing Manchester United‘s Victor Lindelöf according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish publication reports that the Catalan side are looking to sign the Swede after losing out on Ajax‘s Matthijs de Ligt.

Ernesto Valverde is keen on signing a centre-back this summer despite having the likes of Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Clément Lenglet in the squad. The manager wants more competition for the starting spots and was desperate to get De Ligt.

Lindelof had a shaky start at Old Trafford but managed to find his feet slowly. Along with Erick Bailey, he is regarded as their best centre-back right now by the majority of the Red Devils’ fan base.

Mundo Deportivo claim Lindelof has been on Barcelona’s radar since his Benfica days. They report that the Spanish side were keeping tabs on his as well when they signed Nelson Semedo from the Portuguese side

Rumour Ratings: 3/10

While Lindelof is slowly showing why Manchester United paid £31 million to sign him, he is still not at the level to play for Barcelona. Moreover, with United also looking to bolster their defence, they would straight away reject the enquiry by Barca.
