Barcelona lose hope of landing Manchester target

Barcelona have already signed Frenkie De Jong and reports suggested that they were after his teammate, Matthijs de Ligt as well. They have been in negotiations with Ajax for a long time now and the Dutch side’s CEO, Edwin van der Sar already confirmed that Camp Nou could be the defender’s next destination.

However, ESPN now report that Barca have lost hope of signing the Dutch centre-back. The Catalan side are reluctant to make a bigger big than they already have and believe that Mino Raiola will put the defender to join elsewhere.

Apart from Barcelona, Manchester United were said to be the only side to have made a move for him. De Ligt is reportedly interested in moving to Old Trafford as well but is waiting to see what project they have on offer for him.

Bayern Munich and PSG are also said to be in the race for the Dutchman. Meanwhile, with Vincent Kompany leaving Manchester City, there are rumours that Pep Guardiola will urge the Etihad side to make a swift move for De Ligt as well.

Rumour Ratings: 7/10

Mino Raiola is currently banned from entering any negotiations as but still plays a huge part in his client’s transfers. The agent has always got the best for his players but at the same time ensured that he gets paid well for the transfer.

ESPN are a very reliable source and it wont be a surprise if this is the case behind the scenes.
