Arsenal star set to join Napoli

Napoli are set to trigger their €4 million option to buy David Ospina according to Di Marzio. The Italian journalist has reported that the Columbian goalkeeper has also agreed terms with the Serie A side.

Ospina spent the 2018/19 season at Napoli after the Gunners signed Bernd Leno. The German’s arrival made him and Petr Cech the top 2 picks for Unai Emery and Ospina was allowed to leave.

The loan move to Napoli came with a €4 million option to buy and earlier reports suggested that the Italian side were looking to lower the price. However, Arsenal stood firm and have forced the Serie A side to pay the agreed amount.

Ospina was signed from Nice in 2014 by Arsene Wenger but never managed to keep his place as the #1 choice at Emirates. He played second fiddle to Petr Cech and will now become the 2nd Arsenal goalkeeper to join a Serie A permanently after Wojciech Szczęsny.

Aaron Ramsey has also moved to Serie A with Juventus after signing a pre-contract with the Italian champions.

Rumour Ratings: 9/10

Not only is Di Marzio reliable for transfer news and rumours, the loan move came with an option to buy. Napoli have just triggered it and Ospina will be joining them permanently.
