Former Everton manager interested in replacing Unai Emery at Arsenal

Arsenal Rumours: Arsenal are on the hunt for a manager after they sacked Unai Emery on Friday. The Gunners have appointed Freddie Ljungberg as a caretaker manager while they get the deal done for a permanent manager.

BBC Sport’s Ian Dennis is now reporting that Roberto Martinez is interested in the Arsenal job. Mauricio Pochettino is also among the candidates Arsenal are looking at but the former Spurs manager had ruled out a move to the Gunners a while back.

Martinez is currently the Belgium National team manager and has been doing well. He guided them to the 3rd place finish in the 2018 World Cup and finished unbeaten in the 10 EURO 2020 qualifiers.

He managed Everton and Wigan in the Premier League and has won the FA Cup with the latter. However, Wigan were relegated in the same season and he left the club to join Everton.

Roberto managed to finish 5th with Everton in the 2013/14 season but was unable to replicate it again. He was sacked by the Toffees in May 2016 with just one game left in the campaign.
