Aubameyang devastated by costly miss against Olympiakos

Arsenal news: The Gunners crashed out of the Europa League last night after suffering a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Olympiakos.

They looked to be in control of the game after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cancelled out Pape Cisse’s opener, but a last-gasp strike from Youssef El-Arabi in the final minute of extra time sent the Gunners packing.

Aubameyang, who had scored a screamer to get the Gunners level, missed a gilt-edged opportunity with the last kick of the game, blazing his shot wide from near the six-yard box.

The Gabonese striker admitted after the game that he is still struggling to come to terms with the miss and that he feels terrible about the outcome.

“I don’t even know. I feel very, very bad. This can happen. I don’t know how I missed this chance. I was tired and I had some cramps as well, but it is not an excuse. I have to score this goal, but it can happen.”

Aubameyang has been a sole shining light for Arsenal in an otherwise disastrous campaign in which they find themselves in the ninth spot in the league and only the FA Cup to play for.
