Alexander Isak will not travel with Newcastle United squad to Singapore – Reports

Alexander Isak is set to miss Newcastle United’s pre-season game against Arsenal in Singapore.

Newcastle United will be without Alexander Isak once again after the striker was kept back in England following a thigh issue. The Swedish star has undergone a precautionary scan, which has come out clear.

According to Ben Jacobs, Isak will not be traveling to Singapore with the Newcastle United squad. The striker also missed the 4-0 loss to Celtic earlier this month, with Eddie Howe revealing that he had decided to leave the striker out.

The manager claimed that it was down to workload management, and added that he was not going to play the striker in the match. Howe also admitted that the transfer rumors were also a part of his decision and said:

“It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him. The last thing he wanted is to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn’t fair to him. But I’m confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window.”

Isak’s future has been in the balance since Liverpool approached to sign him this summer. The Magpies swiftly rebuffed the Reds and have insisted that their star player is not for sale.

When asked if Howe was 100% confident that Isak would be at the club after the window shuts, he added:

“It’s difficult for me to give 100% clarity on any player. Alex is happy at Newcastle United, he loves the players, the staff, the team. I’m confident he’ll be here at the start of the season. We have a few of those players who are irreplaceable. We’re desperate to keep Alex (Isak) part of our team.”

Liverpool have since signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Al Hilal remain interested in signing Isak and are willing to pay โ‚ฌ130 million this summer.
