Chelsea have been forced to share points at Stamford Bridge by Crystal Palace in the opening match of the Premier League season. The World Champions were sub-par all over the pitch, and Enzo Maresca will be happy to come away with a point.
Eberechi Eze scored from a powerful free kick to give Crystal Palace the lead in the first half, but VAR ruled the goal out. Marc Guehi was impeding the Chelsea wall and pushed Moises Caicedo, resulting in the scoreline remaining goalless.
The home side could not muster a shot on target from the third minute to the 88th minute, but Liam Delap’s shot was straight at Dean Henderson, who saved comfortably. Estevo Willian and Anrey Santos had the chance to win it, but the Brazilian youngster saw their shot go high and wide from good positions inside the box.
